There are resources specifically aimed at our youngest learners. These resources are for both educators and parents so that we can also encourage learning and good technology habits at home.
The most important thing that I learned is that teaching young learners to use media, should be balanced with reading in print. Moderation is a necessity in the process. I think the Food Pyramid for Meida Consumption recommendations is a great way to start. It is important to me to have some guidelines to work around in this media era becuase my knowledge is limited.
I learned about the wide variety of resources that are available in the Early Learning Portal. I find this important because I will be supporting teachers with resources to utilize in the classroom. I like that there are websites as well as apps for iPads. The resources for parents are useful as well!
That there are resources geared towards specific age groups and themes available to use, I am exicted to implement these things in our before and after school program.
