Overall the text utilized is considered slightly complex. All students accessing this text are diagnosed with Autism and are well-below grade level across all academic content areas. The text includes a lot of visual supports and ogranization to help make the text/task as explicit as possible. This considered, I think it's important to maintain high expectations in regards to the vocabulary and background knowledge involved with each news article. Supplemental activies can help support this.
