Pickup at your school from public library

by Rebecca Rosecrans 8 months, 3 weeks ago

Recently I was placing a hold on an item at my public library. When I chose location I noticed that several of our wayne county school libraries are listed. (Green, Triway and Wooster City) Does anyone know how that works?

Rebecca,

  1. I'm guessing that Wayne County Public Library just has an agreement with the various schools as a drop-off location. In the system being used (CLEVNET / SirsiDynix Symphony), they likely configured each of the pickup locations (schools) as a "library" in the system, and then have a method to simply transport the items to the schools for the students or staff.
  2. As an FYI, in Ohio we use to have some schools participate in a statewide resource sharing project called MORE, which is now the Statewide Delivery Service. I don't believe any schools participate at this point because the delivery fee was cost prohibitive, but it is a service that allows patrons to borrow materials from any other participating library.
