Good morning, sharing with the INFOhio Community a book study opportunity from the Ohio Department of Education. See the posting below for more details.

 The Writing Revolution Book Study

Join the Ohio Department of Education for a summer virtual book study based on The Writing Revolution. This book study is an opportunity for educators across the state to collaborate, brainstorm and discuss ways to support students with explicit writing instruction.

Students often struggle with the writing process, so this discussion group will cover topics like constructing complex sentences, developing thought-provoking paragraphs and writing coherent compositions. Participants will share ideas about providing just-in-time writing instruction with an overall goal of accelerating student learning.

The strategies shared can be used with any curriculum and across content areas, but most are useful for grades 2 and up. The book study is meant to supplement independent reading with engaging virtual discussion and other hands-on activities.

Participants will need to secure their own copies of the text and may attend a single session or all the sessions. All sessions are free and will be recorded and posted for viewing.
