Tomorrow at 4:00 p.m., the State Library of Ohio is launching a new website on the InnovateOhio Platform (IOP). Our homepage will remain https://library.ohio.gov and users will NOT experience downtime on the website during the transition. Although we understand it may take some time to adjust, we believe the new website will be easier to navigate with distinct paths for Ohio residents, libraries, and State of Ohio employees. As a result, links to programs and services within the website have changed and bookmarked links you have saved may no longer work. Information about friendly or shortened URLs is forthcoming. An outline of where to find what you need is included below.

What’s New

• The new site utilizes more imagery to aid navigation, is completely mobile responsive, and is ADA compliant.
• A consolidated Contact Us form with a dropdown function enables users to easily select a topic for their question.
• A small chat icon is visible on the lower right screen on all pages. When selected it opens a chat box to ask a reference question.
• The catalog search box on the home page helps users refine their search by keyword, title, or author.
• In addition to recent announcements, the What’s New section includes summaries of visits to Ohio libraries and books recently added to our library collections. Previous posts are available to view by selecting All News.
• There is a clearer distinction between databases available to all Ohio residents via the Ohio Web Library and databases available to state government employees through OhioLINK and those we purchase. Descriptions of databases and links to guides and tutorials (if available) are now included.
• Most documents (PDF, Word, Excel, etc.) link to Amazon S3 cloud storage.

• Keep in mind, links to Amazon S3 cloud storage will not work until the website has launched.

Our web development team has worked diligently for months on this project with one goal in mind, to provide you with the best customer experience. The team will continue working on navigation refinements, editing, and adding new information.  I welcome your feedback on the new website after it has launched and beyond.

Migrating our website to the IOP is an ongoing collaborative effort with InnovateOhio to support Governor DeWine’s initiative to create an integrated customer experience on one platform across all state agencies, boards, and commissions.
