Join us for "Let's Get Together: Paraprofessionals Edition" on Wednesday, October 18!
You’re invited to a fast-paced, forty-minute session to connect with people doing the same work as you across all library types, who share the same challenges and opportunities. Free for OhioNet members, the agenda will be light, with some ice breakers and breakout group questions.
Our upcoming event on Wednesday, 10/18 is designed specifically for library staff and paraprofessionals. Even if you do not have a library degree, you are still a vital part of the profession, not to mention the daily operations of your library. We hope you take this opportunity to meet others doing the same important work as you!
This event is currently for OhioNet members only.

“Hey Copyright Lady!”—Five Common Copyright Questions and the Answers to Them
November 1 from 2:30-4 p.m. EST
If you’re new to answering copyright questions for your community, this webinar is for you! In this interactive demonstration, we’ll discuss five common copyright questions and roleplay the answers to them.
- If I cite a work, then there is no copyright infringement, right?
- I found this picture via a Google search. As the photographer put it publicly online, I Am free to reuse it any way I like, right?
- How many recipes can I copy out of this cookbook I found in your collection
- If a use is for educational purposes, it’s automatically a fair use, right?
- As long as I’m not making any money off the reuse of a copyrighted work then there is no infringement, right?
Registrants are also invited to submit their own common (or complex) questions for the trainers to answer at the end of the session.
Introduction to Appreciative Inquiry for Libraries
November 8 from 1-3 p.m. EST
Appreciative Inquiry is a strengths-based positive approach to change (as opposed to a traditional deficit-based approach). It is the search for the best in people, organizations, and other human systems that focuses on what’s already working and on leading people to co-design their future.
In this session led by Michelle Bradley, OhioNet's Director of Consulting Services, participants will be introduced to the model and theory of appreciative inquiry. They will also learn about practical applications of appreciative inquiry for libraries. Read more about appreciative inquiry on The Center for Appreciative Inquiry's website and join us for this introductory webinar!

If you are responsible for managing catalog records in LCC, this session will introduce you to the rules and tools you’ll need to find, assess, and modify classification information in MARC records.
Conversations Worth Having for Library Leaders (In-Person Workshop)
November 28 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. EST
Communication. It remains one of the top challenges for organizations, teams, and relationships. Almost everyone struggles with how to effectively communicate when they are frustrated or facing conflict. They show up in libraries as:
- Employee disengagement, malaise, and turnover
- Dysfunctional teams, boards or committees
- Inability to give and receive feedback
- Negative attitudes, cliques, and gossip; a culture of “me”
If you’re dealing with any of these outcomes, Conversations Worth Having for Library Leaders will give you the skills and tools to turn them around. This course is grounded in Appreciative Inquiry, a widely used positive change approach. Two simple Appreciative Inquiry practices can spark meaningful connections, ignite creativity, and empower library leaders at any level to make a difference.
Strategic Conversations Worth Having (In-Person Workshop)
November 29 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. EST
Using two powerful methodologies – SOAR and the 5-D Appreciative Inquiry model – this course will strengthen your value as a leader by developing your capacity to foster whole system strategic thinking, planning, and leading.
