The INFOhio ICoach group is for trained ICoaches to receive updates, share, collaborate, and create for the purpose of training and outreach with Ohio's PreK-12 educators, students, and parents.
What subject areas in your building are up for curriculum review or adoption? Use Ohio Materials Matter Reviews to search for curricula that meet the criteria for high-quality. Share the curriculum your district or school uses or is considering adopting in the High-Quality Instructional Materials for Each Child Open Space group.
Use the Favorite feature to save the curricula that fit the needs of your building. Email them to your team or curriculum director.
Schedule time to talk about the curricula and how they can help support your school's goals.
These questions are interesting in that Akron Public Schools has entire teams dedicated to the adoption of new curricula and the process is long-established with many checks. Notably, the process involves a team of people who all teach that specific subject area and choose to dedicate extra time and their many years of experience to ensure that the chosen curriculum is the best possible one that could be found.
I have neither the years of experience nor the subject area credentials to place me in such a category that would make me feel comfortable sharing a curriculum suggestion to these teams of people. Considering my role within this much larger district it is difficult for me to engage effectively with these assignment prompts because they seem to be pushing toward something that is not only outside of my purview, but that would take far more than the allotted time to effectively engage with in a meaningful way.
