INFOhio is a digital library for pre-school to grade 12 that provides equitable resources and tools to students, teachers, and parents in the state of Ohio, including library automation. This video provides information on how to log into the resource.
Hobbies & Crafts Reference Center is a wonderful source for art teachers and guidance/counseling, too. A great place for students to learn something for fulfilling their lives beyond academics. Guidance/counseling would also really benefit from the career resources curated on INFOhio as well: Stem & career videos and the Gale Ebooks for careers. Basically all teachers and students and those who serve them should start with INFOhio before heading to other search engines!
My elevator speech will be directed to students, teachers, and staff in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Unfortunately, school libraries in CMSD have been transitioned into Community, College, and Career Centers. This means that access to quality books and research materials have been dramatically limited. INFOhio is the perfect resource for helping bridge the gap between services that the media center can offer and the needs that our students will have for academic success, and it is all free! INFOhio is useful for students in grades Prek-12. Scholars will have access to quality books through BookFlix, World Book and more web-based resources found in INFOhio. These resources are aligned to the state standards with access to lesson plans that will support your instructional needs. All students, teachers and families have access to INFOhio including public, private and career centers. Currently, almost 2 million people are using. Access to INFOhio is granted by typing in your school’s name along with your zip code. It’s that easy! There are so many ways to use INFOhio to support your academic needs, feel free to explore the Professional Development section and Open Space areas for creative new ways to reach our learners through the use of technology.

Service providers life speech and language pathologists, vision specialists, school resource officers, counselors, and career tech coordinators, within our schools, can also access this resource. I love using the Spanish and French encyclopedias with global language classes, as well as the Gale and Learn360 Career Collections with school counselors. Even many resources that apply to core classes contain information for multiple subject areas. For example, Explora can be used to find health information, art resources, or articles about athletics.
What a great elevator speech, Michelle!

INFOhio is a prek-12 digital resource that we can use as teachers, students, and parents in the state of Ohio that is chockful of information that will greatly help us out even more than we could imagine with our research paper unit. INFOhio provides access to the resources we need to help our students achieve more and even help them out in other areas after the research paper is done. Teachers, students, and parents are able to access this resource, and you should not need to have any login information, as you can search our school and it will allow you to access the resource. INFOhio has resources for all grades. There is a specific button you can click on depending on what grade level you would like to show. This is not just for research and library purposes. Students can use this is they are working on a project for history where they need to know a biography or a timeline project. STEM resrouces are available. World news resources are available.
I am more focused on the ELA aspect as I am an English teacher and not a Media Specialist as of yet. I could offer different avenues these different departments could utilize, but my main focus is ELA.
INFOhio is a wealth of reliable inclusive digital information available to students, teachers, and families in Ohio. These services are free to students and their families to use 24/7 all year long to preschool through college level. INFOhio provides timely information and resources to it's users and also provides curriculum alignment and lessons for educators and librarians. Because I work at a career center I use a variety of the INFOhio resources. One of our most popular is the Chilton Library which is used by our automotive technology lab, auto collision, ag diesel, and diesel groups. I also use the hobbies and crafts with our interior design, floriculture, and carpentry areas. My health career labs utilize all the science databases for information that is usually more of a college level type of information. INFOhio has been a lifesave for me at the career center. I had always worked with academics, but it provides a wealth of information for our career tech teachers and students. There are not always books to help with repairing an engine, but Chilton database allows our students to find that information or repair and older vehicle! I am VERY thankful for INFOhio as a career tech librarian.
Hey, have you met InfOhio? Most teachers may know it exists, but have you ever taken the time to really get to know it? InfOhio has a wealth of information available to teachers, students, and families, and get this…it’s FREE! It’s full of high quality, professionally vetted resources that are curated into grade bands for ease of use. As a former high school social studies teacher, some of my favorites are Explora, Go! Ask, Act, Achieve, World Book Timelines, and the Points of View Reference Center. That’s but a small sample of the available resources and tools and login is a snap, especially within the district. As an InfOhio Coach, I would love to help you access a few and find something that will work well for you and your students. Have a great day!
love this!
Infohio is a great resource and is no cost to use. There are programs to help the students find research for reports, ebooks, along with many other items.
(Depending on who I am speaking to I would cator my elevator speech to share the important details differently)
To teachers - You can also find professional development resorces including lesson plans and curriculim tools.
To Parents - You can find under a parent tab how you can help your child with researching reports or science fair projects. Even how to help them with math.
To students - I would point out something that would individualy interest them. With the Older students they are excited about the citation builder.
Feel free to contact me at anytime if you would like anymore information.
