by Emily Rozmus 8 months, 2 weeks ago
  • Find the INFOhio Monthly Bulletins 2023-2024 in the Group Resources tab of the INFOhio ICoach Open Space group.
  • Open the most recent bulletin and read the content.
  • Choose two or more of the bulletins to share with staff members who will benefit from the information.

What content did you share with educators and why?

Susan Ridgeway 5 months ago

I shared the September bulletin so teachers would be able to see that INFOhio had purchased all of the new ebooks from Ebsco. I love that books about the Holocaust were purchased as well, because my art department always have their students enter a contest about the Holocaust. They come to the library to use the Holocaust books we have, but now there are even more to choose from.. There is also a link to Teacher Tools in this bulletin that I think will be extremely useful for them.

I also shared the October bulletin so teachers could see the Supporting Every Day Teaching with High Quality Instructional Materials information. The webinars look like a useful resource to get a better sense of what teachers can do to improve on the availability of their instructional materials. I also liked the information on the ebooks on student wellness and careers.

CultureGrams was also spotlighted. I just think this is such a great resource for our students, and it certainly needs all the exposure it can get.

I will be sharing the august bulletin with my whole staff. most either don't know what infohio does or even how to use it so we will be starting from the begining. I will be forwarding the monthly bulletins out as they are released fort he teachers access

Remember that it is most helpful to share INFOhio in increments. If staff is new to INFOhio, share the intro class or one resource. That will stop the firehose effect!!

I didn't share INFOhio Monthly Bulletins with educators yet.

Anne McDowell 4 months, 1 week ago

I reviewed November's bulletin. I will be sharing the section titled "New Ohio Approved Professional Development With INFOhio". Educators always need contact hours and this is high quality learning!

I am planning to share the newest (January 2024) eclipse information in my library to the students, but I will send the teaching staff information from the August 2023 bulletin. I am new to my school this year, and I do not know how familiar the staff is with the resources available. I will then update them monthly as new information is available.

I have not shared any of the monthly bulletins with the educators in my building. I will look into doing that.

Dawn Ferrell 4 months ago

The Jan bulletin as Open Space has added more than 25,000 new materials including books and lesson plans that can be used to futher educate out students.

The Nov bullentin as it has ebooks in capstone to support science and socail studes, and socail studies is one area Voris is looking into for further education.  It also has New Ohio Approved Professional Development courses which gives them hours towards their continuing education.

I shared with my colleague the information about the Solar Eclipe and shared the Capstone Ebooks which she was so excited about since we are about to begin a zoo pbl and were short on materials.

I opened the January 2024 bulletin, and enjoyed reading the content. I plan to share the following content with educators:

“Solar Eclipse Excitement” (JAN 24)- This is perfect timing as we have started the initial plans for fun activities to do with our middle school students. The choice board is excellent, and will be enjoyed by all.

“Purchase of 1,000 eBooks” (NOV 23)- Excellent resource to share out to our ELA teachers as well as our Intervention Specialist. This will help with independent reading and student choice.

“INFOhio’s PD and Training” (SEPT 23)- This is a wonderful resource to share with every educator in our district. We are always looking for PD opportunities to add to our professional growth and licensure renewal.

I think the november bulletin would be great to share with staff since it seems to talk and eplain infohio and its contents. Some teachers may not ne at all familar with the website so it can help introduce it. The second bulletin would be january the information seems very interesting with new facts and activities and it also has the most current events to date.

Summer Lamp 2 months, 2 weeks ago

I would share the February one because it had an interesting flyer INFOhio Strive for Syzygy at OETC 2024 Flyer that would be beneficial for many of the teachers who incorporate STEM into their teaching practices.

I would also share the about the motivational strategies for helping reluctant readers as that is a common issue in our building.

Gerard Grimm 2 months, 1 week ago

I shared the March 2024 Bulletin with our Social Studies and English departments, as this is an election year and the bulletin provided a resource for media literacy.  In the age of AI and the increasing blur between political entities and news organizations, teachers are struggling to create discerning readers. I also shared the January 2024 Bulletin as it covered the new instructional materials INFOhio has provided for 2024. A large number of our teachers are already beginning to modify their curriculum for next school year now (to avoid doing it during the summer), so this is a great opportunity for them to uncover new resources to update how they do what they do.

Whitney Mihalik 2 months, 1 week ago

I went to the February newsletter and found a great piece on resources to help students find texts that interest them and encourage them to read independently. I'll be sharing that with my ELA colleagues. I also will be sharing the article about the upcoming eclipse with my admin, as we were recently informed we would have the school day off and have been encouraged to teach about the eclipse.

I will be sharing the January post about the additional resources if you use Bill Nye in your science classes.  While Bill Nye is great there are numerous other sites that provide excellent video resources as well as print resources.  Many of these sites also include higher grade levels.

Ron Moser 2 months, 1 week ago

I have not shared any bulIetins yet

I  would share the OpenSciEd  resource from the March 2024 bulletin with our science department. The resource includes lessons that can be used immediately.

  • I chose to share the March bulletin with the ELA PLC because it was the most recent. Media Literacy is BIG. The content I shared was information taken from the News Literacy Project. These are 46 new instructional materials focus on information and media literacy and feature 19 lesson plans and 27 other infographics, posters, guides, and quizzes.
  • Choose two or more of the bulletins to share with staff members who will benefit from the information.

What content did you share with educators and why?:  Understanding Bias and Algorithms and Identifying Deepfakes and Misinformation explains how news is created and presented with the help of AI and the potential for misinformation. Sharing these two pieces of content with educators can help them integrate AI and news literacy education into their curriculum, preparing students to look at news in the  digital age responsibly and effectively by resourcing the source thoroughly.

I will be sharing the CultureGrams bulletin as well as the Eclipse information bulletin.  Even though we are in a high school our students didn't get the initial curriculum of the younger ages because they were still in refugee camps at that time in their lives.  These resources can fill in the blanks that were missed during that time that will help bridge the knowledge gap to high school learning.  The Eclipse information is just plain relevant.

Melissa Jarvis 2 months ago

I have not shared. It is hard enough to find the time to complete the training.

Beth Clute 2 months ago

It's helpful to know this info because if I'm asked I'm knowlegable.

Darlene Alaniz 2 months ago

I was looking at the latest bulletin and I would share the Solor Eclipse resources/choice board.  Teachers will be looking for information regarding the solor eclipse and I think this is a great resource that would be used and appreciated.

Angela Rogers 1 month, 4 weeks ago

I looked at the March Monthly Bulletin and shared the INFOhio Strive for Syzygy at OETC 24 document with teachers. I was able to attend one day of OETC and there was so much infomation to absorb. This one page document does a wonderful job of putting a lot of information in one place in a user friendly way. Thanks for creating and sharing so others can share as well!

Laura Kovach 1 month, 3 weeks ago

I shared the Eclipse information with staff from the January Bulletin. Because students will not be in school that day, the idea of using the choice board while they are on spring break is nice. Students can either do the choice board themselves or they can share it with their siblings, whom many of them may be watching over during that week.

  • Find the INFOhio Monthly Bulletins 2023-2024 in the Group Resources tab of the INFOhio ICoach Open Space group.  Found it!
  • Open the most recent bulletin and read the content.  Did This!
  • Choose two or more of the bulletins to share with staff members who will benefit from the information.

What content did you share with educators and why?

I used INFOhio's March eBook Madness. There is much buzz about the NCAA tourney amongst teachers and staff. So this is a cool way to incorporate the bracket to show professional development tools. I plan on using this for books with students too.

Amy Glosh 1 month, 3 weeks ago

I would share the currated collections from March 2024. Those are great topics that should appeal to students that I envision are part of conversations and lessons happening in classrooms today.

I would also share November 2023. I think teachers will be interested to know that INFOhio has added 1000 ebooks to Capstone for grades 3-6 -- hits our sweet spot!

Sarah Sherwood 1 month, 2 weeks ago

I looked at the February bulletin. I shared the Strive for Syzygy OETC resources with our technology coach as these are topics she is keeping up on. I also shared the BLUECloud Learning Pathways with the other librarians in our district. Some were not in those positions when BLUECloud first started.

Elizabeth Shirk 1 month, 2 weeks ago

I plan to share the January 2024 with staff and complete some of the activities this week with my 6th graders! It was nice to find a no prep activity. We only have school 3 days this week and the choice board is awesome!

Natalie Hostutler 1 month, 2 weeks ago

I chose to share the March '24 bulletin and am planning to share the April '24 when it is released. I chose those as they are the most recent and share some wonderful information about INFOhio and the aspects within that are helpful in courses cross-discipline. My high school staff is new to INFOhio, so I'd like to approach the introduction of this tool in small steps.

Susan Mongold 1 month, 1 week ago

These are great! I plan to share them each month with my building principal to include in her weekly newsletter.

Melissa Hudson 1 month ago

For the most recent monthly bulletin, it is not relevant to my current role to share this builletin with staff members. Perhaps in the future, this would make more sense. This pathway has made me aware of the Monthly Bulletins as a resource.

  • Find the INFOhio Monthly Bulletins 2023-2024 in the Group Resources tab of the INFOhio ICoach Open Space group.   Found under Group Resources

  • Open the most recent bulletin and read the content.  Done

  • Choose two or more of the bulletins to share with staff members who will benefit from the information.

  • I read the article in the April Bulletin.  My immediate supervisors who are  Media Specialists have already shared some of the information in the Bulletins with the school staff.  It is not my place or position to distribute information out to the staff or students.  In the buildings where I work the staff would not expect information coming from me.  I did however sign up to receive the monthly bulletins.  I found that it was informative and I enjoy reading some of the articles.
Sam Appleby 2 weeks, 3 days ago

I have not shared yet, but I plan on sharing at our next professional development day May 10th on AI and Professional Learning eBooks.  The article AI and the future of Education is one that I think my staff might find very interesting.  We have had a lot of discourse over this topic.  There are some staff members that feel that AI is making it easier to cheat and prevents students from coming up with original ideas.  While others feel that AI is here to stay and we should embrace it's capabilites.

The second resource I'd like to share with staff members is the Professional Learning eBooks.  Inspiring creativity in your teaching practice might be a good thing for the teachers to read privately.  I don't like coming off as trying to tell another collegue what they need or should do.  Everyone's classroom is different and they have to do what feels the most natural.  Introducing a personal read for reflection might help them realize something that could help them in whatever capacity.
