by Emily Rozmus 2 years, 2 months ago- Please post your name, position, place of employment, and why you were interested in the xCT+ program.
- Share at least one of the INFOhio resources or tools you have shared with others and what you like about it.
I am Michele Carlisle, Coordinator of Distance Education at East Central Ohio ESC. I have long been a huge proponent of INFOhio and its resources, and couldn't be more thrilled to be able to promote to current educators the vast collection of available resources.
Book Flix is a resource that I consider to be a critical tool in a teacher's toolbelt. It gives the teachers the ability to select reading pairs for students who may not have access to a wide selection of books in their home. It's an easy tool to implement and it provides valuable texts for students.
My name is Nicole Dozois, Education Consultant with Hamilton County ESC. I have been learning more and more over the last year about all of the wonderful resources available through INFOhio. I have been excited to be able to bring attention to these resources and encourage the use of them.
The Digital Video Collections are a favorite of mine, I particularly like the Math Vocabulary video that is specifically geared to helping students with ESL. The video series offered are already preapproved so you don't have to worry about preview every video in its entirety to ensure its appropriateness for your students.
Hi Nicole!
Excited to hear your enthusiasm for INFOhio! Can't wait to read more of your reflections as you move through the classes.
I am Kasey Dunlap, Education Consultant at Hamilton County ESC. I am particularly interested in the possibilities within Open Space for individuals and teams to create curriculum. I work with many teachers who are the only oned teaching their content/grade level, so I am exploring this as a tool for "singletons" to feel part of a team.
Kasey,
Open Space groups are a great way to connect educators from different buildings/districts who need peers to compare, reflect, and share with!
Hi everyone,
My name is Gretchen Lawn and I am a Teaching and Learning Consultant at the ESC of Northeast Ohio. Most of my work focuses on OTES and OPES training. As part of that training, I receive a lot of follow-up work with district leaders. Many times that involves selecting curriculum, assessments, resources, etc. I think it is always helpful to be able to direct leaders to multiple locations in order to find the materials and resources that best meet their needs. I think INFOhio is often an overlooked resource.
I am a big fan of the Ed Reports and often direct districts there when they are discussing the adoption of new curriculum.
Hi Gretchen,
I am looking forward to hearing more from you as you work through the classes. Don't miss our EdReports class as well!
My name is Emily Kriegel. I am the Curriculum Coordinator at the Mercer County ESC. I believe that access to quality resources and material is a bridge to equity in our schools.
As a Curriculum Coordinator, Ed Reports is vital for my job. Again, QUALITY materials for ALL students is a non-negotiable if we want to make education equitable.
Emily,
It was great meeting you at Connect and Collaborate! I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts in the discussion as you complete the training!
I am Bill Mooney, and I work for WOSU Public Media. I have been an INFOhio advocate since 2012, after being introduced to it by a colleague. My favorite INFOhio resource is still the Points of View Reference Center. I have recommended it to many 6-12 educators who are amazed by the resources and ready to use it the next day with students.
Hi Bill,
Thanks for being a long-time advocate for INFOhio! I know you will have some great insight to share with others as you work through this training!
Hello, my name is Melissa Solema. I am currently an Instructional Technology Specialist with Lake Geauga Computer Association (LGCA). We are supporting member districts with training and professional learning opportunities. The xCT+ program adds value to what we offer. The addition of multiple ebook collections and text set availability are of high interest.
Hi Melissa,
I know you will be able to add insight to these discussions!
My name is Lindsey Schmiesing, Curriculum Director from the Mercer County Educational Service Center. I have been with the ESC for three years and I am excited to take this course and share the tools and resources with our educators.
Throughout the past several years I have shared some of the INFOhio resources with our educators through summer professional development. One of our favorites is Bookflix! Many of our teachers have enjoyed learning about it and have started using it in their classrooms. With the xCT+ program, I think we will be able to provide our educators with more resources through a variety of professional learning opportunities throughout the school year. We plan to host after-school virtual highlights so we can introduce educators to all the amazing tools that INFOhio offers.
What a great way to introduce INFOhio to educators, Lindsey!
My name is Dave Clark and I am a Curriculum and Technology Specialist at Butler County ESC. As a former middle Social Studies Teacher, I have long been a proponent of finding and sharing free and easily accessible resources for teachers in my subject matter area.
World Book Timelines is a resource that I have always been inclined to share with both teachers and students. It is an information-rich and visually appealing resource that has so many cross-curricular applications for a wide range of grade levels. Easy to navigate, and very helpful for both teacher and student usage.
Hi Dave,
So excited you are participating in the xCT+ program! WBT is definitely a hidden treasure.
Hi everyone. My name is Dave Miller. I've been with the ESC of Lorain County for 20 years. For most of those year, I've provided technology integration training and support for schools in our region. I'm interested in the xCT+ program so I can continue to stay on top of the great resources provided to schools through InfoOhio.
One resource I have found helpful is the EBSCO Database. Inside there are resources for all kinds of topics of interest that can support research for our schools.
