This group has been created for INFOhio users and book study groups who are reading the book, Building Blocks for Tiny Techies by Jamila "Mia" Leonard. This group is to be used in combination with the INFOhio class, Building Blocks for Tiny Techies by Jamila "Mia" Leonard to help teachers reflect on their own practices and learn from others.
In this book, the author shares her expertise with best practices for tech implementation, adaptation, and exploration in the elementary classroom, where today's students are digital natives, adept at using touchscreens and apps from an early age. She offers strategic, seamless, and intentional ways to fold tech into existing curricula. Certain activiies are technology free times, i.e. a physical scavenger hunt, research in the classroom. Setting the expectation in advance as part of a routine is helpful. Our school internet filter limits and loggs inappropriate searching. Having classroom agreed upon expectations and behaviors helps naviagate projects in the classroom.
