SymphonyWeb Check-in
by Kamile Shed 1 year, 11 months agoGood afternoon,
Today, I wanted to provide a couple updates about some of the issues we have found in SymphonyWeb. As well as discuss some information about properties in SymphonyWeb and ask for more feedback on SymphonyWeb documentation. Below are two issues that were discovered in SymphonyWeb last week, I reached out to SirsiDynix to report these issues, please see the responses below:
- Issue: Dropdowns for Item group, etc when cataloging do not allow you to scroll through choices and make a selections. SirsiDynix has confirmed that there are times when there is a site delay. I have found that refreshing my web browser helps with this issue. However, if anyone is experiencing this at an excessive rate please let me know.
- NOTE: This is a WorkFlows issue: Unable to manually update picture using a MAC computer in WorkFlows, however this is not an issue in SymphonyWeb. SirsiDynix has informed me that this a known bug in Symphony represented by Jira UNI-37099. Per SirsiDynix, the Symphony client does not work well on Mac operating systems. SirsiDynix has also stated Mac users have had the best experience using the web-based SymphonyWeb application.
After doing some testing I have found that once you set your Properties in SymphonyWeb, the properties will be permanently saved once you log out of SymphonyWeb and save your changes. Unlike WorkFlows, in SymphonyWeb you do not have to reapply your Property settings for each computer you use.
Last week I asked about some ideas on documentation on things that are rare or unique about Symphony. Below are a list of things that came to mind that I have already created documentation or currently plan to:
- Opening reports updating file extentions (Currently geared toward Microsoft Office, future update: plan to include Google docs and LibreOffice)
- Turning on Alerts and Sounds
- Setting up Properties to search by Alt ID
- SymphonyWeb FAQ, this document will direct users to WorkFlows handbooks as many items in SymphonyWeb work in the same way.
More feedback is welcome.
Have a great day!
