What Did You Learn from the World Book Class?
by INFOhio Staff 2 years, 5 months agoTake the World Book Early Learning class, the World Book Kids class, and/or the World Book Student and Advanced class to learn more about this digital resource licensed by INFOhio.
What was the most important thing you learned from this class? What makes it important to you?
World Book Early Learners
There are basic reading activities that can help support our earliest readers. The navigation for students to move between games, activities, stories, and videos is easy. This would not be a resource that I use, as it was much more difficult to use as an educator.
World Book Kids
I like that there are lesson plans that utilize the resources. While I don't prefer the reading resources on this site to others, I do like that the lesson plans appear more interactive. Although the questions I was able to access all appeared to be lower-level.
What a great resource for a teacher of early childhood education. The various activities help to explain and extend a topic, while aligning with the Standards for your state.
All the different aspects of World Book Student that would help my students better read and understand the articles they are reading. The dictionary aspect, the highlighting, the extra resources and the citation builder. All of it would be a great help to my students for research and would help me to better teach my students about how to research and how to find the sources they need. Being able to play around with the resource was a big help to learn all the little areas that I have never realized were there.
All the little items world book offers that I never had a chance to look at before. I knew the main items that were offered, but not items like:
1. Read-aloud with voice change and speed options.
2. The save choice on the right of the article and all the different options for saving for students and staff.
3. Dictionary
4. Educator tools.
I was fairly new to learning abut World Book Student/Advanced. I was excited that there is so much more to the site than just looking up information in a dry way. I think some of the most important things I learned was ease of looking things up and breaking down what is in the article quickly. From the read to me option to the media tab, there is so many ways to help the students at every level. The citation builder was also a great added feature.
I agree! There is so much to this website! There is a wealth of knowledge to access for our young PK learners and their families. I am looking forward to introducing families to this opportunity for "Learning at Home"; and, periodically sharing the parent resource PDFs as well. I would like to spend more time with the Early Learning Basic section to see if it will be something usable and valuable during center rotations in our classroom. The educator lesson plan + tools section also has time saving resources. Excited to learn of this resource and begin using!
The info presented was all inclusive and easy access. I utilized youtube and Hartmann but they were not interactive to this extent. Step by step with activities galore.
I knew how to use and had used most of the features of World Book Kids before in the classroom. I learned how to put World Books Kids content directly into Google Classroom for future lessons.
I learned how to navigate the resource and find the tools needed to share with others.
I have never used the site before. I like that it has different books for different levels. I also like that it includes activities for writing the leters and numbers, as I have children that have trouble with writing skills.
I believe the most important thing I learned, and the most helpful, from this class is the incredible amount of resources and crossover that can be utilized throughout. We are limited in technology, which is unfortunate. However, I believe there are many great strategies, activities and resources that we will benefit by using World Book Early Learning. I don't feel at this time there could be improvement since we are so limited in technology devices. We will simply modify how we use the resources.
I learned there are many available resources at little or no cost. I found this resource very useful as an elementary educator who is transitioning to opening a daycare. I think it is wonderful how the lessons scaffold to encourage success in reading.
I liked how I can research materials and books and lesson plans using Ohio Standards.
