Select a task that is related to one or more of the units studied in the course. Conduct research to extend our understanding of the texts and/or topics of one or more units. Express your understanding by creating a product and delivering a presentation which summarizes your research and explains our product.
Students learn about the specific goals of the Application Guidebook where they will select a task and begin conducting research for their task.
Read the unit overview and the central question of the guidebook unit conducting your own research.
We will evaluate the usefulness of sources, select sources for our research, and record bibliographic information for the sources we select. This will help us prepare our research.
We will engage in small-group discussions to demonstrate our understanding of our research topics. This will help us prepare for further research and product creation.
Students continue conducting research. They also brainstorm and create an outline for their culminating task product. They also work with a partner to evaluate the content and ideas of their outline before they create a draft of their product.
Review the culminating task prompt and the evidence gathered. Complete the outlining section of the culminating task tool to organize the evidence for your work.
Evaluate a response to determine how well it meets the expectations of a rubric. Then revise and edit your work based on the model.
